Outgoing Mail Services
Mail Services processes all outbound and intracampus UCD and UCDHS mail. Collections are made from your department at the same time your deliveries are made. Mail may also be dropped at one of our
mail processing locations.
Tubs, trays and bags
The blue, yellow and red tubs that are used for mail delivery are in limited supply and should not be used for storage, filing or stockpiled for future use. Additional tubs, trays or bags can be requested for your department to prepare and contain mailings. Call the
Delivery Supervisor for availability and delivery.
Large collections
Large mailings can be picked up by Mail Services for shipping off campus or for delivery to another department. Departments are required to call Mail Services in advance to arrange for a large collection. If your mailing cannot be carried out by hand in one trip, it is considered a large collection. A call is needed so that the delivery supervisor can determine the proper personnel, schedules, equipment and vehicle to be used in handling your large mailing. Some large mailings require a special trip that must be arranged in advance. If no advance call is made, your extra mail may not be collected until the next mail delivery. If your large mailing has not been picked up, it may be possible to arrange a special collection before the next delivery by calling the Delivery Supervisor. There will be a fee for this special service.
General distributions
General distributions are items such as memos and flyers that must be delivered to all departments on campus and/or UCDMC, but do not need to be individually addressed. The department sending the flyer must be identified on each flyer and the content must be official university business. This delivery method minimizes preparation by your department and allows the Mail Services to deliver your material quickly. Items such as posters and single sheet flyers that exceed 11 1/ 2" X 15" must be folded in half. Up to two copies of loose sheets can be distributed to each department. Distributions of over two copies per department must be stapled together. Please contact the Mail Services to find the exact number of items needed for your general distribution.
Mail to other UC campuses
Intercampus mail is available to the Berkeley campus and the Office of the President in Oakland. Mail to these locations should be addressed by department name with a complete return address and clearly labeled "lNTERCAMPUS BUS." Mail to the other UC campuses (Irvine, Los Angeles, Merced, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz), Bodega Bay, Vet Med Teaching and Research Center in Tulare, Martinez VA Hospital, and other field stations must be sent via U.S. Mail or another carrier.
Mail to dorm residents
Campus mail can be used for residents in all campus housing units except Orchard Park, Russell Park, Solano Park and Primero Grove. Mail for residents of the "Parks" must be sent via the U.S. Postal Service or another carrier. Campus mail can be sent to the business offices of Orchard Park and Solano Park (excluding residents).
