Personal Mail
The Wrong Way
The campus mail system is for official university business only - this applies to intercampus, intracampus and outgoing mail. Even if postage is applied to outgoing mail, it is a draw on campus resources and a violation of policy.
Mail Services can, by policy, open mail that appears to be personal. Such mail is intercepted and returned to the sender. Personal mail received through the U.S. Postal Service is not returned, but departments are responsible for forwarding this mail.
Christmas cards and other types of greeting cards should not be sent from one department to another.
The Right Way
Several US Postal boxes are currently located around campus for personal mail drop:
- Northwest corner of Sycamore Lane and Russell Boulevard
- South entrance of Segundo Dining Hall
- North entrance of Tercero Dining Commons
- Bus stop at Hickey Gym
- North entrance of Everson Hall
- South entrance of Mrak Hall
- Corner of La Rue Drive and Bioletti Way
- ASUCD Post Office located at Memorial Union (M-F, 9-5pm)
